DESTINATION WELLNESS TOURISM INITIATIVE

On behalf of the Global Wellness Institute Lindsay co-leads a research-based initiative on ‘Destination Wellness Tourism’. The purpose of this Initiative is to increase awareness, understanding and the opportunities in one of the fastest growing tourism segments globally.
Through a group of industry experts, we set out to foster a greater understanding about the global wellness traveler, promoting the value and opportunity of this segment to stakeholders. We take a deep dive into the wellness travelers’ motivations and needs to support the practical integration into wellness marketing and operational strategies.

Our work supports clearly defining the term ‘wellness tourism destination’ and its context as it relates to social, environmental and economic governance. We identify criteria that shapes what make a great wellness destination, demonstrated by global best practice of countries, regions and cities representing wellness tourism destination development. Through various research and case studies we isolate key success metrics and components required for a wellness tourism destination to succeed while discovering consumer trends in wellness and travel that are impacting and shaping consumer demand and destination selection.

Our intended audience includes tourism industry stakeholders including but not limited to travel suppliers & distributors, transportation & hospitality brands, destination management and operators, tourism boards, NGOs, and service providers.
